Sadly the phrase is pretty much synonymous with being weak and ineffective, as demonstrated by those in the video, when asked to perform tasks ‘like a girl’ – even the females in the group.

The video shows us how we can so easily fall into the stereotype trap – and let’s be honest, if you’d been put on the spot and asked to do something ‘like a girl’ prior to watching this video – you’d have done the same.

So next time you’re making any ‘like a’ comparison – think about what stereotype you may be inadvertently perpetuating.

“If somebody else says that running like a girl, or kicking like a girl, or shooting like a girl is something that you shouldn’t be doing, that’s their problem. Because if you’re still scoring, and you’re still getting to the ball on time, and you’re still being first, you’re doing it right. It doesn’t matter what they say.”
