Rethink Homelessness went around the streets of Orlando, Florida and asked some homeless people to write down something about themselves, something that people who walked past them would not know. What they wrote down may surprise many, helping to challenge negative stereotypes society has of the homeless. Although their statements were all different, it provided a small glimpse into their lives giving us a strong message of compassion.
While only 18 homeless residents were featured in the video out of thousands, the statements made by the 18 had a profound impact on those who watched the video. With over 2 million views on YouTube and nearly two thousand comments, hopefully this a step in the right direction towards rethinking homelessness.
