5 Reasons to Get off of Facebook

Not everyone is using Facebook now. While the number of users are in the millions it’s app that’s not for everyone. Facebook can really beat you up as it takes you on an emotional roller coaster of seeing your life and hundreds of others flash by you in seconds as you scroll through our feed overwhelmed by notifications, pictures, and status updates.

This year you need to go big or go home by taking control back of your life rather than allowing social media apps having unlimited freedoms to spy on your personal life. Whether you go cold turkey or try to wean yourself from the app, it will not be easy if you are not a strong person. Find a sponsor or accountability part. Yes, there are real help groups out there for this type of obsession.

When you stop using Facebook you soon realize that you are not caught up in seeing pictures of your friends who got a brand new hot body shortly after giving birth. Why do we torture ourselves stalking pictures of friends and friends of friends judging outward appearances? You can boost your confidence by just not looking. You also won’t have to put up with the emotional drama, jealousy, and being envy of people who look like they have a perfectly happy family and life. We all know that’s not true.

4. No More Unwanted Rejection

How do you handle when some sends you an invite to their event or an invitation to be a friend that you don’t want to be a friend of? Perhaps you have been that person or been caught in that trap where you send the invites or events and don’t get an RSVP. Sometimes making a phone call, sending a text, or mailing an invitation is more personal than a request on Social Media. Personalizing your communication and making meaningful is what creates lifelong friends. You should never lower your standards.

3. Temptation Stops with You

Set yourself free instead of stalking the popularity of other people’s posts by snooping on how many likes a post has received or what people are commenting on. Facebook is one of the biggest platforms for gossiping and bullying. If you won’t say it to them face to face then you shouldn’t say it all. It’s sad that online edacity is a thing of the past. Seriously, just stop looking at things you shouldn’t be looking at and you will be a happier person.

2. Better Self Image

Your self-image improves when you stop seeking other people’s approval because you changed your hairstyle or color, your pregnant or lost weight, or you got a new tattoo or nose job. You don’t have to worry about other people judging you because you just announced your break up or divorce by changing your marital stats.

1. Addiction Free Living

Being free of Facebook gives you the ability to remain ignorant and plead the fifth when someone starts to gossip to you. You will no longer miss out on life seeing your kids grow up because you will actually be engaged and watching them at their sporting events rather than constantly checking for new updates.

You will become a more beautiful and stronger person after you have taken control back of your life. Don’t let Social Media rule your lives. Too many families and relationships have been destroyed over social media. You have the power to change your life and be a blessing to others without the worry or fear of being judged.
